Freshfield Bakery is the largest family owned and operated bakery on Merseyside. We use fine ingredients, traditional methods and a lot of skilled hand work to produce exceptional breads, fresh cream cakes, pastries, and pies. Our vans reliably deliver throughout the north west to a wide variety of wholesale customers.
We are Ian and Mairi Derbyshire, (often joined by our two daughters at weekends). We started Freshfield in 1999 but the family history in baking goes back much further. We have grown our business carefully and sustainably so that we have always been able to maintain our high standards.
Freshfield Bakery was originally situated in Freshfield, Formby. (Hence the name!) As trading grew, so did our company, and in 2007 we moved to Knowsley and the luxury of sizeable specialty food unit. This enabled us to gain our STS Accreditation which we are extremely proud of.
Our bakery is now dwarfed by surrounding huge sheds - Amazon, Makro, a simply enormous cold store... But for us it is a pretty perfect size. It's big enough to still allow our business to grow but small enough for us to still be hands on and eyes everywhere.
Today we have over 30 skilled staff and a fleet of 7 delivery vans and we reliably deliver to over 300 established customers throughout the North West. Our customers range from sandwich shops, cafes, restaurants, hotels to convenience stores, wholesale retailers, schools, colleges, universities and also NHS trusts. With a wealth of industry expertise and superior market intelligence, Freshfield Bakery is uniquely qualified to help customers exceed expectations—both in the quality and value of our products and through our ordering and delivery process.
